GEORGE RUSSELL

George Russell’s passion for motorsport started early, growing up at karting tracks with his brother, a National Karting Champion.

By age seven George started racing, quickly rising through the ranks and winning the Super 1 National Championship in the ROTAX Mini Max category.

George’s talent flourished internationally, securing the FIA European Karting Championship in KF3, one of the world's biggest karting competitions.

George continued to impress in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, finishing third in 2016. Joining the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Junior Programme, he earned the GP3 title in his rookie season and followed it with the Formula 2 Championship in 2018. Debuting in F1 with Williams in 2019, George showcased his skill despite a challenging car. He earned the team their first front row start at Spa in 20 years and first team F1 Podium in 4 years.

George received a Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team call-up for the Sakhir Grand Prix in 2020, where he impressed from the outset, qualifying second and leading most of the race.

In 2022, George claimed his first Pole Position and F1 race victory at the São Paulo Grand Prix. He has since secured multiple F1 Pole Positions and Grand Prix victories with the team, solidifying his place as one of F1’s brightest stars.
