Nathaniel Dorn
As the previous partner of The Restaurant at Meadowood in St. Helena, Nathaniel’s leadership and hospitality acumen is widely admired. Under his leadership, the restaurant received a three Michelin Star rating in the San Francisco Bay Area and Wine Country Restaurants Guide in 2010 and an Outstanding Service Award from the James Beard Foundation in 2014. Partnering with Bill Harlan and Christopher Kostow in 2016, Nathaniel opened The Charter Oak Restaurant which was awarded “Best New Restaurant of 2016” by Esquire Magazine.
After fourteen years in the Napa Valley, Nathaniel transitioned his career and launched Amulet Estate Winery. Amulet Estate is an understated, yet elegant winery estate located in the heart of Napa Valley on a legacy vineyard site within the northeastern corner of the St. Helena appellation, focused upon a single vineyard portfolio of traditional Cabernet Sauvignon wines from historic vineyards and heritage properties.
With the goal of telling the deeper story about the Napa Valley, Amulet Estate produces estate wines from the St. Helena AVA, and diverse, single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon wines from several iconic, heritage vineyards located in nearby Napa Valley appellations including St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville, Yountville, and Stags Leap, as well as a Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
Amulet Estate has intentionally evolved into a gathering place, that offers only winemaker led experiences, a rare and profound experience that supports the foundation of extreme care, attention to detail and authenticity that runs through every aspect of the winery.
While located on a historic site which was formerly a horse ranch, Amulet Estate was acquired, renamed and reborn in 2019. The state-of-the-art winery, designed by Howard Backen, is positioned on the 20-acre estate to naturally blend in with the surrounding organically farmed vineyards and forested hillsides, reinforcing the winery’s stewardship of, and commitment to, sustainability and the land.
As single vineyard, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon focused, every wine is a reflection of the terroir and microclimate of the vineyard site, respect for the land and made in small lots in a pure and minimalistic style. Most releases, are as rare as two barrels per vintage.
